plastic bumper inspection & finishing fixture
Numerous fixtures of this design have
now been provided for the finishing of large plastic moulded panel
automotive plastic mouldings.
The key benefit of these fixtures, is that they do not
touch the 'A' or visible face of the part, but do allow the operator easy access to both
faces.
The assembly of this plastic bumper
required components to be attched from both sides. After assembly,
the fixture could be used to assist in the inspection of the bumper.
The latest fixture has some additional
improvements:
The fixture is able to rotate either clockwise or anti
clockwise (to accommodate left and right handed users).
There are additional stop positions at +/-90 degrees.
The original fixtures only offered the front face or in the inside of the bumper in
the locked position. These additional stop positions have been arranged to allow
easy fitting of in-bumper parking sensors, or any other parts which require access from
both sides at the same time.
To keep the design of this fixture simple, all operations
are manual. The operator loads the part and energises the vacuum. The vacuun
gauge indicates to the operator when the vacuum is stable. After this, the foot
operated switch is depressed, allowing the part to be rotated and locked in a different
position.
The same fixtures can be used to dress other large panels,
whether they be bumpers, interior panels or dash boards etc.
We can also incorporate Poke Yoke sensors,
provide a vision system and supply function testing for wiring looms
within the same frame design.
